Pyhävaatteita ("Sunday Clothes") is a collection by Hyères Festival awarded Elina Laitinen.
In her mother's childhood it was common to use Sunday clothes, (Pyhävaatteita in Finnish). Gradually after wearing them out, Sunday clothes became ordinary every day clothes. This beautifully represents the long life cycle of garments. Nowadays, wearing Sunday clothes is no more customary, but one could still try and see that same practical dignity in all our garments. In this work sunlight is used to create patterns on the fabrics, expressing the passage of time in clothes.
